Jere Gish

Jere Gish co-anchors the WGAL News 8 at 6, 10 and 11 p.m. newscasts.

Jere first joined WGAL as a weekend morning anchor and reporter in 2002 before moving to KMBC in Kansas City for five years. He returned to WGAL in 2009 and teamed up with Lori Burkholder on News 8 Today. Jere has also worked at WENY in Elmira, New York, WJAC in Johnstown, PA and WTAJ in Altoona, PA.

Jere has covered everything from Supreme Court hearings to hurricanes in his journalism career, including the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. He received an Edward R. Murrow award for "Troubled Waters," a series of reports on the cleanup effort of the Chesapeake Bay. He has also won several Emmy awards for reporting and anchoring, including an Emmy for "Open for Business," a series of reports in which Jere followed three Susquehanna Valley entrepreneurs as they opened new businesses in the middle of a slow economy.

Jere graduated from Penn State University with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. He grew up in Lancaster County and enjoys running, reading and spending time with his kids.
