Kristin Kay joined WGAL as News Director in March 2023.

Kay leads the news department and has oversight of editorial content on all of the station’s content platforms.

Before joining WGAL, Kay served as the Assistant News Director for WLWT, the Hearst Television station in Cincinnati, OH, from 2019 until 2023. There she helped lead the news team during unprecedented coverage during the COVID-19 pandemic and led coverage of several severe weather events, including tornadoes and devastating floods in the region.

During her time in Cincinnati, Kay led coverage of the Bengals road to the 2022 Super Bowl in Los Angeles. She spearheaded multiple community efforts for WLWT, including a Day of Giving for local schools and a coat drive for St. Vincent de Paul.

Kay was part of WLWT’s Investigative Team, which was recognized with regional Murrow and Emmy awards for their investigative work. She also worked with the WLWT News 5 team to organize and execute extensive voters guides and debates during the 2022 election.

Kay has more than a decade of experience in local news, including work in Minneapolis, Seattle, San Diego and Bakersfield, CA.

Kay graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism from California State University, Northridge.
