News 8 Sports Director Pat Principe has been with WGAL since 1983.

Born in Mt. Vernon, N.Y., Pat also spent part of his childhood living in Cleveland and Houston. In 1972, he graduated from Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School in New Jersey. He went on to graduate, cum laude, from Ithaca College, attaining a degree from the School of Communications in 1976.

Pat first took up broadcasting during his junior year of college, when he became sports director for the college radio station. As a senior, he was named Sportscaster of the Year. After college, Pat worked as a sportscaster and producer for WOWK-TV in Huntington, W.Va. In 1982, he moved to WLYH-TV in the Lancaster/Lebanon area of Pennsylvania. In his career with WGAL, Pat has been nominated nine times for Mid-Atlantic Regional Emmy Awards. He has also earned several Associated Press awards for sports coverage, sportscasts and Football Friday.

Pat and his wife Joanne have five grandchildren.
