Mary Ellen Pann

Meteorologist

Mary Ellen Pann is delighted to be forecasting again for the Lower Susquehanna Valley.

She brings 25 years of forecasting experience to WGAL.

Against all odds, and with the help of so many, MaryEllen went back to school in her early 30s to study meteorology at Mississippi State University.

Before finishing school, her career began in 1997, at WMDT on the Maryland Eastern Shore. While there, she freelanced at FOX45 in Baltimore, WUSA in Washington, D.C. and FOX43 in York, Pennsylvania.

FOX43 hired MaryEllen permanently in 1999. In 2012, she was named the first female Chief Meteorologist in the Lower Susquehanna Valley. She was also instrumental in developing the Weather Smart brand.

MaryEllen says she is so excited and honored to be part of WGAL and an esteemed group of meteorologists, who share the same passion for weather she does.

"Forecasting for the Lower Susquehanna Valley brings many challenges, with the mountains to the west, and the Atlantic Ocean to the east. My favorite weather to forecast, and most difficult, is snow! I am very thankful to everyone for welcoming me into your home and trusting my forecasts," MaryEllen said. "I really love meeting folks when I am out at events, shopping at local stores, or dining at one of the many restaurants the area has to offer."

MaryEllen's husband is also a meteorologist. She loves being outdoors, playing golf, walking her Pomeranian or hiking. She says she also enjoy a good book.
