Matt Barcaro

Anchor

Matt Barcaro is the co-anchor of WGAL News 8 Today weekday mornings from 4:30 a.m. to 7 a.m.

Matt joined WGAL in 2008, starting as a reporter in the Harrisburg bureau. His work has earned him several Pennsylvania Association of Broadcaster Awards, Mid Atlantic Regional Emmy Awards, and Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards.

Matt has led production of several documentary specials for WGAL in which he's shined a light on issues not often covered in media, including youth homelessness, second chances for juvenile lifers, and the history of Native American boarding schools.

Matt also enjoys the lighter side of life and highlighting unsung heroes in the Susquehanna Valley. He may be most well-known by WGAL viewers, though, for his annual reporting at the Pennsylvania Farm Show, where he's done everything from milking cows, driving horses and holding newborn animals.

Prior to joining WGAL, Matt worked at KHBS-KHOG, the Hearst affiliate in Northwest Arkansas.

Matt is a proud graduate of the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. He was born and raised outside Philadelphia.

Matt loves to be outside and he'd be more than happy to recommend some of his favorite hiking trails in the Susquehanna Valley. He also enjoys experimenting in his vegetable garden, cooking, camping, and going to the beach with his wife and son.
