WITH THEIR FAMILIES AT LONG’S PARK IN LANCASTER. AND METEOROLOGIST T.J. SPRINGER, MOTHER NATURE PRODUCING A NICE ONE FOR ALL THE DADDY WAS IT WAS GORGEOUS FOR ALL OF OUR DADS OUT THERE. JANELLE YEAH, PLENTY OF SUNSHINE. IT LOOKS LIKE A REALLY NICE ONE THIS EVENING AS WELL. IF YOU HAD ANY PLANS AND LONG’S PARK WAS A HAPPENING PLACE TO BE, I WAS OUT THERE FOR THE SUMMER CONCERT SERIES THAT WAS PART OF BE A SPONSOR OF. SO IF YOU WENT OUT HOPEFULLY YOU HAD A GREAT TIME THERE AS WELL. HERE’S OUR LIVE LOOK IN THE CAPITAL CITY. WE’RE GLANCING OFF TO THE NORTH AND WEST, QUIET AND TO OUR FATHER’S DAY. AND IT LOOKS LIKE A FAIRLY QUIET START TO OUR WORKWEEK UNFOLDING TOMORROW. HIGH PRESSURE STILL IN CONTROL AS THE UPPER LEVEL LOW HAS BEEN MOVING AWAY OFF TO OUR NORTH AND EAST, OUT TO OUR SOUTH AND WEST, THOUGH, THAT’S OUR NEXT AREA OF LOW PRESSURE THAT WE’RE TRACKING. AND THIS IS PRODUCING SEVERE WEATHER ACROSS PARTS OF MISSISSIPPI. WAS JUST LOOKING AT SOME TORNADO WARNINGS OUT ACROSS THE CENTRAL MISSISSIPPI. SOME SEVERE WEATHER EASTWARD INTO PARTS OF ALABAMA AS WELL. IN NORTHBOUND INTO SOME OF TENNESSEE, TOO. BUT THIS IS GOING TO GET BLOCKED BY AN AREA OF HIGH PRESSURE IN THE UPPER LEVELS OF THE ATMOSPHERE. SO REALLY GOING TO ACT LIKE A TRAFFIC JAM, NOT GOING TO ALLOW THIS TO MOVE IN, BUT EVENTUALLY IT DOES WIN AND WE WILL SEE SLIGHTLY UNSETTLED CONDITIONS AS WE GET THE WEEK UNFOLDS. UPPER 50S TO LOWER 60S, THOUGH OVERNIGHT THE WIND LIGHTENS UP MORE FROM THE EAST UNDER A STARRY SKY. TOMORROW THE AIR QUALITY GOING TO BE IMPACTED WITH SOME OF THAT SMOKE AND SOME HIGHER LEVELS OF OZONE. SO IT’S AN IMPACT DAY FOR US. MIDDLE TO UPPER 70S FOR THE MORNING CLOUDS THICKEN THROUGHOUT THE AFTERNOON. IT’LL BE WARMER. IT’LL BE STICKIER, AND THAT’LL LEAD TO SOME OF THAT HIGHER OZONE CONCENTRATION AT THE SURFACE WITH THE HIGH NEAR 90. FOR SOME OF US OUT THERE, HERE’S THE SMOKE AS WE HEAD THROUGH TOMORROW. IT DOES LOOK LIKE WITH THE WIND SWITCHING ON TUESDAY, NOT AS HIGH OF A CONCENTRATION OF SMOKE IN THE ATMOSPHERE, BUT STILL, WE’LL HAVE TO MONITOR THE AIR QUALITY AS WE HEAD THROUGH THE SECOND DAY OF THE WORKWEEK AS WELL. TOMORROW IT IS WORSE. WE HAVE THE CODE ORANGE. IT DOES MEAN THAT YOUNGER KIDDOS AND ELDERLY FOLKS MAY WANT TO LIMIT SOME OF THAT OUTDOOR EXPOSURE. TRY TO SPEND A LITTLE MORE TIME INDOORS, IF AT ALL POSSIBLE. ALSO GOING TO CONTEND WITH HIGHER MOLD LEVELS IN THE AIR POLLEN LEVELS IN THE MODERATE CATEGORY WITH THE SUNSHINE, YOU’LL WANT THE SHADES IF YOU’RE HEADING OUT FOR MAYBE THE POOL, 20 MINUTE BURN TIME, NOT ALL THAT LONG AT ALL. TEMPERATURES CURRENTLY ARE IN THE 60S AND 70S. IT’S GOING TO BE A SEASONABLE NIGHT WITH THE HELP OF THE CLEAR SKY AND LIGHT WIND, TEMPERATURES WILL BE ABLE TO DROP OFF. WE HAVE A 69 IN HARRISBURG. IT IS 63 NOW AND GLENS GROVE AND 70 IN THE RED ROSE CITY. AS WE PROGRESS THROUGH THE REMAINDER OF OUR NIGHT TIMING THINGS THAT ON PREDICTOR WE CAN SEE THE STARRY SKY AS WE HEAD THROUGH TOMORROW MORNING THOUGH IF YOU DO HAVE TO WORK, MORNING COMMUTE SHOULD BE JUST FINE. NOTICE THE CLOUDS MOVING IN HIGHER LEVELS AT FIRST THICKENING UP THROUGH THE AFTERNOON SHOULD STAY DRY. BUT AS WE HEAD THROUGH TUESDAY, MONDAY NIGHT INTO TUESDAY, EVEN MORE CLOUD COVER. AND THEN WE’RE EXPECTING THE POTENTIAL FOR STRAY SHOWERS AND MAYBE A COUPLE STORMS AS THAT AREA OF LOW PRESSURE STARTS TO WORK IN. AND WITH THE EASTERLY FLOW MORE CLOUD COVER, COOLER TEMPERATURES AND DEFINITELY MORE MOISTURE IN THE AIR. SO WE’RE NOT GOING TO BE AS WARM. NOW, OUR NEWS EIGHT STORM TEAM, TEN DAY FORECAST SHOWS TEMPERATURES BACK INTO THE LOWER 80S AS WE OFFICIALLY KICK OFF SUMMER ON WEDNESDAY. ALSO MAY SEE A STRAY SHOWER OR STORM A LITTLE DRIER ON THURSDAY. WE’RE BACK INTO THE MIDDLE 80S. FRIDAY COULD SEE A COUPLE OF LATE DAY SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS. BUT OVERALL, AN UNSETTLED TREND AS THAT LOW MOVES IN MORE WIDESPREAD SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS. ANOTHER DISTURBANCE BRINGS THE POTENTIAL FOR SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS THROUGH THE EARLY PART O

More warmth and sunshine on tap for Juneteenth

As high pressure holds, so does our sunshine and warmth. Meteorologist T.J. Springer breaks down how warm our temps climb and when we see another good chance for showers and storms.

Our Father's Day has been gorgeous across the Valley thanks to high pressure firmly in control. This has been the trend as the upper-low to our NE moves away. It'll be a warm but pleasant evening with temps dipping back into the lower 80s. Overnight, it'll be seasonable once again with lows dipping into the 50s and 60s. The warming trend continues into Juneteenth so if you have the day off, plan for above normal temps. The ridging leads to highs near the 90 degree mark! As an area of low pressure moves toward us from the SW on Tuesday, another one is dropping in from the north. Between the two disturbances, a stray shower or storm is possible. Chances aren't looking high but a downpour or two is on the table. We keep this trend for Wednesday with the low to our SW moving closer to us. As this area of low pressure moves eastbound, we'll tap into more of a SE flow and that allows the moisture content to increase some late week. That makes for muggier conditions and eventually brings more rain chances. Any showers will aid in the rain deficit throughout the region. The low finally moves in late Friday into Saturday with more widespread showers and storms possible. It's a somewhat slow-moving system as this blocky pattern begins to break down. That means we'll likely see more showers and thunderstorms on Sunday. As this wave exits off the coast, another one is on the approach from the NW. This keeps things unsettled as we progress into the following week. More hit or miss showers and storms are on the table Monday and Tuesday with highs staying seasonable for this time of year. Expect afternoon readings in the lower to middles 80s. The unsettled trend doesn't end as large scale NW flow holds. The associated upper-low looks to drop in by mid-week into Thursday which would likely keeps the threat for scattered showers and storms. It's still far away but the threat for severe weather will need to be monitored so stay tuned!Happy Father's Day!
