A revised burn ban that includes fireworks went into effect Monday in York County.County commissioners approved the new ban on Friday.For the next 30 days, open burning is not allowed. Setting off fireworks is also prohibited unless approved through written permission from the municipality.Anyone who violates the resolution commits a summary offense and could face a fine if convicted:Up to $100 for a first offense.$200 for the second offense.$300 for the third and subsequent offense.The use of propane or gas stoves, charcoal briquette grills or tobacco is permitted.Fireworks were already prohibited in York before the county-wide ban, but people continue to set them off.City firefighters were called Monday morning to a parking lot across from William Penn High School after fireworks created a small fire.Despite getting a brief rain, fire officials said the danger is not over."These are prolonged dry conditions that we're seeing. So, getting a little bit of rain today, tomorrow isn't necessarily going to fix the problem. It still exists," Deputy Fire Chief Adams Smith said.Over the years, York has seen numerous fireworks-related fires and injuries.
