Four Susquehanna Valley softball teams took the field today in the state high school quarterfinals. Cumberland Valley taking on Haverford in *** Smoky six day match up in Brooks County Eagles were down 4 to 1 in the third inning but come alive. Marley Martin with runners on hard liner down the third base line battle plate two and CV as the deficit cut to one at 4 to 3 and then an inning later CV is up *** run when Emma Morgan comes up and that falls into the great wide open and right center field that made it 74 Eagles had five more in the fifth two in the sixth. They win 14 to 5, advancing to their first state semi final in nine years.

(WGAL) – Amidst the hazy skies this afternoon at Twin Valley High School, Cumberland Valley softball advanced to the 6A state semifinals for the first time in nine years with a 14-5 win over Haverford. Down 4-1 in the third inning, Marley Martin’s hard line drive down the third base line scored two runs for the Eagles. In the same inning, Martin would cross home plate to tie up the game at four. Just one inning later, Emma Morgan belted a two-run shot over the fence in right-center field to make the score 7-4. The Eagles added to their lead, scoring five runs in the fifth inning and two more in the sixth inning to close out the win. Their opponent in Monday's semifinal will be Hempfield (District 7) after they defeated Downtown East 2-0.
